What and who makes the news cycles?

As I’ve mentioned before, I am very intentional now about how I consume news. For many years I felt if I didn’t know about all the suffering in the world I was being intentionally ignorant and selfish. I have since learnt that, for myself, it’s not possible to truly process human suffering on an hourly basis.

Saying that - today is world #humanitarian day. I was unaware of the extent of the crises in Tigray, #Ethiopia. Article linked below. Again, the grey zone of comparing tragedy crops up, the Ukraine crisis has been headline news every single day. It makes me question how #unconscious are our #biases? Is it affinity bias? Is it racism in coverage? Is it geo-political? Of course it’s a combination of all of the above.
