Warsaw Wanderings…

…anyone who has met me knows that I have a LOT of questions - and never more so than when I’m travelling to a new place.

I spent last week in Warsaw, 🇵🇱 for the annual F2F SIETAR Europa #boardsofdirectors meeting - in the company of great humans. Sometimes I think the 🌍 can be divided into those who love exploring and actively go outside their comfort zones, and those who don’t.

A few things I learnt:

🚦- Red means red when crossing the road, even at 3 am when there’s nobody around. It’s not worth the fine. Katarzyna Kucharska - your insider knowledge is exactly what I love about travel!

🥃 - Check the percentage of the vodka before you order - 70% is truly a sensory overload!

💣 - Almost all of the old town of Warsaw was destroyed in WWII. But if you know where to look there are beautiful ways that the past is thoughtfully incorporated and remembered - thanks to the amazing Eliza Korzeniewska for showing us some of these hidden gems.

🤝🏽 - Being part of a Board is a truly unique opportunity - from strategy to vision, differences in style to volunteer morale - it's a complex puzzle 🧩 and there's a lot to learn.

🛌 - I was reminded how much face to face interactions energise me - hearing people's stories and life experiences affirms for me why I do the work I do. I'm also noticing I do need more recovery time from intense social interaction - and that's ok too!

👇🏾 - I'd love to hear if #travel energises or drains you? Do you enjoy the feeling of being overwhelmed with the #unknown? Are you a creature of habit? Ultimately it takes all types 🙂
