Passport Privilege

โ€ฆhow much privilege we are afforded at birth relies heavily on the luck of the draw. ๐Ÿ€ ๐ŸŒ

Growing up I was very ignorant of the passport privilege I had - always travelling on a ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช passport, I never encountered visa rejections. It is only as an adult I became aware of the dehumanising process many of my closest friends had to go through to get visas (and equal opportunities). The human cost of the staggering visa inequality is undeniable. Marta Foresti founder of the LAGO-COLLECTIVE and Otho Mantegazza analysed how in 2023 rejected Schengen ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ visas cost the worldโ€™s poorest โ‚ฌ100M +, ๐Ÿ’ฐ flowing from poor to rich countries, like a โ€˜reverse remittanceโ€™.Together with Federica Fragapane they turned data into beautiful visual stories - which we can so often forget and ignore.
