Depolarising Dialogue

..if you had asked me a few years ago, I would have told you I am extremely conflict averse, and even conflict avoidant, in my #communication style.

Fast forward a couple of years and my work now entails facilitating and encouraging 'hard' discussions - about culture, race, decolonisation, power, privilege and increasingly #polarisation. I still don't love conflict, yet I strongly believe we often learn the most from people who are most different from us. Last year I had the privilege of joining a course 'Across Divides' by the incredible Maja Nenadovic, PhD, through the Institute for Developing Across Differences (IDD) and it changed how I frame 'conflict'. Conflicting opinions, when managed well, are the basis for deep learning.
